Skynyrd Set To Record

Their contemporaries may let a decade or more pass between studio albums, but Lynyrd Skynyrd wants to get a follow-up to their 2009 release (God & Guns) out a lot sooner.  Johnny Van Zant told Billboard that the writing is mostly complete for the record and that the Southern Rock institution hopes to have it recorded and released in the first half of 2012.  Saying the tunes written so far continue the long tradition of writing songs about the first-hand experiences Van Zant quipped 'If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.'
Skynyrd has been doing a series of dates with ZZ Top, another group that is combining road and studio time (story).
