Bowie Guitarist Escapes Inferno

The hot guitar licks of Earl Slick (Frank Madeloni) can be heard on a number of David Bowie albums, including Young Americans, David Live and Station To Station. Slick was a passenger in a hot car owned by a fellow musician and vascular surgeon in New Jersey over the weekend that erupted in flames.  The Shelby Cobra convertible was topless at the time, making a rapid escape possible after the car's engine caught fire on Saturday afternoon (5/19).  Slick was in the area to perform in a British Invasion concert event at a venue in Montclair and to do some mentoring in the School Of Rock program that encourages young musicians.
