Riot Erupts Outside Metallica Show

A crowd of rowdy fans without tickets tried to storm barriers surrounding a Metallica concert being staged for 30,000 in Simon Bolivar Park in Bogota, Colombia Wednesday (3/10).  Police were well equipped to deal with possible trouble.  1,500 cops met the challenge with water cannons and tear gas, dispersing around 600 fans and arresting 168 after a battle that went on for the better part of an hour.  A handful of officers suffered injuries, one reportedly suffering a stab wound in the melee.  The concert was the first Metallica show in Colombia since the late 90's.  Similar disruptions marked the band's earlier concerts in Santiago, Chile and Guatemala.
